Greetings from the Smiths in Covington, La; We wanted to send you an update on the progress of rebuilding Ronnie and Janet Keller's home. We have now completed three weeks of work and the progress has been beyond our expectations. When the first work group from Carmel and Speedway Churches arrived on the second of January there was just a shell of a house. Three weeks later the Keller's home is wired for electricity, insulated, the carport, porch and overhang of the roof are replaced and ready for paint. We have had groups come and work over the last two weeks. One from Kansas City, Missouri and one from East Aurora, New York. The Kansas City group helped finish the trim around the outside of the house and put up trim on the carport and sanded and caulked. The New York group donated all funds for insulation and installed all the insulation. We have also ordered windows and are working with a carpenter to come down early in February to install windows. We are also working on getting quotes on air conditioning and heating. The goal is to have the house ready for hanging drywall the week of February 18 - 24Th. That leads us to put in a request for another work group to be organized for the Week of February 18 - 24. The Drywalling project is the next big part of the rebuilding and we can use all the help we can get. If you have any desire or know someone who wants to volunteer, get in touch with Steve Costlow at 1-317- 773- 2911 at Carmel Christian Church or Jean Brandenburg at 317-243-7289. If this date does not work there is another chance of volunteer the Week of March 18 - 24 when another Speedway and Carmel Group is planned. If neither of these weeks works there is always, SEND MONEY. Aside from needing volunteers, needing money is at the top of the list on things we need. So, tell your friends, your neighbors, tell your co-workers tell the newspapers, tell everyone what Carmel and Speedway are doing. You may be surprised at what might happen. People want the give, They just need a reason. In Christ's Service George and Dixie We have also included some pictures of the work in progress.
