Mission Statement of Carmel Christian Church
To be a worshipping, caring, learning, serving Christian church in Carmel and beyond.

 


May 18 - following church, is the outreach committee and youth-sponsored Potato Bar.  This dinner is designated to help raise funds and supplies for the church's trip to Appalachia in August.  Plan to attend and support this project.


May 28, 29, 30 - Carmel Christian Church will be serving the annual Finals Breakfast.  This event not only is appreciated by Carmel High School students, but is also a great way for the church to let the high school students know that we care about them.  To volunteer to assist with this event, contact Joey Crume.


DWM - Dr. Geunhee Yu will visit Carmel Christian Church on Saturday, June 14, 2008 to meet with the Disciples Women's Ministry.  Dr. Yu is the Executive Pastor of North America Pacific/Asian Disciples.  The program will begin at 11 am, with a meal of Korean and American food prepared by DWM members.  Following lunch, Dr. Yu will tell about the large number of Koreans living in this area and about his work in the Disciples Homeland Ministry. 


Supper Six groups will begin in May, with sign-up during April.  These groups will meet monthly for fellowship times together - going out to eat, enjoying potlucks or meeting in homes - to be decided by the members of the group, with individuals or couples taking turns planning the gatherings.  The groups will be composed of individuals and/or couples, to fit members needs.


The Outreach Committee has scheduled a Work/Study Trip to Crosby, Tennessee, in Appalachia, August 3 - 9.  This trip is being coordinated through Disciples Homeland Ministries and is part of the F.A.S.T. Program.  For additional information, contact the church office or Mike Ainley. 


The Disciple Women’s Woman-to-Woman trip study for the year 2008 - 2009 is Hispanola (Haiti and the Dominican Republic).  The study service project of this year will be to assist our partner projects in these areas.  


As part of the Warm Up America Program, the Creative Spirit group has been making afghans for the homeless in Indianapolis.  Recently the group completed their third afghan and are still knitting and crocheting!  If you would like additional information on this project, contact the church office or project champion, Janet Randall.  If you would like to contribute to this endeavor, knitted or crocheted squares, 7" x 9", may be dropped off at the church office.

A second project of this group is the knitting and crocheting of Prayer Shawls.  For additional information, contact Janet Randall or Charlotte Swain.


The Hamilton County CROP Walk was held  October 7, 2007, in Westfield.   For additional information on CROP, or to contribute online, visit the Indiana/Kentucky web site at  http://cwscrop.org/indianakentucky/


The Pageturners, a women's book discussion group, meets monthly to discuss the month's book selection.


A food container is located near the Outreach bulletin board at the church for donations to the Damien Center Ministry, serving people and families living with HIV & AIDS in the metropolitan area. Needed are paper towels, toilet paper, toiletries, toothpaste, sanitary napkins, and canned meat.


The next Interfaith Hospitality Network dinner is scheduled for Wednesday,  August, 2008, at Allisonville Christian Church.  Volunteers are need to prepare and host the evening meal.   A volunteer sign-up sheet is posted in the Fellowship area of the church.  Note:  For June, this project will be donated and staffed by the Youth Group. 


Volunteers needed:  Fellowship  Hour Cookie Bakers!  Sign up to provide cookies for the Fellowship Hour after church.  Sign-up sheet located in Fellowship Hall near the kitchen.  There is also a sign-up sheet for Fellowship Hour Servers.


One Home at a Time - mission project has has been completed!  Project champions, George and Dixie Smith, led mission trip to Slidell, Louisiana, where volunteers  worked on the home of Ronnie and Janet Keller.  Volunteers from Carmel Christian Church and Speedway Christian Church, along with other Disciple groups, worked on the project which was completed in April.  The project is being evaluated with the possibility of undertaking another One Home at a Time.   Additional Information
