CARMEL CHRISTIAN CHURCH

Bosnian Outreach, May, 2006 Update

Pictures from September 2005

In September, 2005, a group from Carmel Christian Church went to Bosnia-Herzegovina.  The trip was arranged through Church World Service and our denomination's Week of Compassion.  During that week, the group visited a remote mountain village near the Serbian border.  The village had been destroyed during the war, and returning residents were living in this primitive environment, rebuilding their village.  All farming was being done by hand.  The Carmel Christian Church group was welcomed with a much-appreciated "feast" after traveling hours to visit the "remote village in the clouds."  Afterwards, we wondered what we could do to assist with this resettlement.  Some of our trip participants donated a roto-tiller/tractor and wagon to the village.

Church World Service representatives deliver the new rototiller/tractor and wagon.  It was good to see the smiles of our Bosnian friends as they unloaded their new tractor.

The pictures sent to us by Dzevad Avdagic, our CWS friend, gave us a glimpse of springtime in the mountains, and our happy Bosnian villagers.
